The Calendar : Stage III

Strange as it may sound, Ka bunked school today and I am so proud of us!! Stranger as it may sound, Ka bunked school because we were out last night till 10:30pm (‘irresponsible’ might be the word you are looking for). Now, that’s not really why I am proud of us but like somebody said, “everything happens for the good”. The reason I am proud is because we worked a fair amount on our Calendar today and it looks pretty decent. Yeah! We might have gone a little overboard with the stickers but we had fun. And isn’t that all that matters? And the most important reason for us getting this done is because Ka brushed her teeth today. I know! I know! These seem like they have nothing to do with each other but do you have any idea how energetic I feel through the day when I don’t have to survive a wrestling match first thing in the morning? So, today she brushed her teeth. On her own. With toothpaste. AND NOT A TEAR WAS SHED. That’s a miracle!!! And it amazes me how small little acts of kindnesses from Ka can make my life seem so wonderful 🙂
Here’s proud little Ka….

and here’s our calendar…

And if you are wondering why Ka looks like a boy, it’s because I just got her hair cut. One less power struggle in the morning you see…
Needles & Threads

My latest…

And that’s my first original knitting design!! Hmmm. So I am into designing knits now. Mostly knitwear but some other random stuff too. And it’s fun and challenging and a good diversion from ranting about not being able to dance 🙂

Anyway, I was so happy with this little christmas tree decoration that I decided to try my hand at a hat!! And here’s what I made…

That’s ‘Ullu’ (and here’s the free pattern). Needless to say, the calendar has been evicted from it’s sweet spot under my bed and that spot has been given to the yarn and needles. But, just typing this makes me feel so guilty that I just might work on the calendar for a little bit today. The clouds might just magically form today afterall…

The Calendar: Stage II

Stage II indeed! The rate at which I am working on the Calendar, it might take me approximately another billion and a half stages before I am done. Finally I got around to adding some water and in the meanwhile, Ka went ahead and added a copyright mark (she traced her hand on my work!) ! Guess she’s given up all hope on it ever getting done. Or maybe it’s been lying around for so long, she thought it’s done and didn’t approve of how plain and featureless it looked. So, she decided to spruce it up her way  🙂
Now that we have the sun and the water, I am hoping, in good time,  the clouds will form.  Oh! ignore the rainbow. It’s magical. It just sprung out of nowhere.  Our little rainbow here doesn’t like to depend on rain clouds or the sun for anything.  He’s quite independent you see…

BTW, the hot glue gun didn’t work either. I mean it worked and then it got un-worked over the next week. So I had to resort to using the good old stapler.  I am not really happy with the looks but right now, whatever works!
